Overview: The Office Coordinator position in the Claims Section is a clerical position responsible for claims processing of unclaimed property with the goal of reuniting owners with unclaimed property. The employee devotes time to both claims processing and to the mailroom. In addition to claims review the employee oversees all mailroom functions. Attendance is an essential function of this position.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintains documentation related to prorated claims
Processes all outgoing mail utilizing various specialized equipment and maintains records related to postage
Performs clerical functions including but not limited to filing, processing incoming mail, and letter preparation
Communicate with co-workers, private citizens or their legal representatives via telephone, written correspondence or in person concerning claim/report status and/or proper completion of the claim reporting form
Reviews and indexes claims to closure
Returns all original documents
Processes holder claims
Perform other duties as assigned or required which are reasonably related to the duties enumerated above
Specific Skills:
Basic computer skills
Familiarity with Microsoft Outlook
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to maintain satisfactory working relationships and communicate effectively with all levels of staff and the general public
Education and Work Experience: Associate's degree, bachelor's degree desired; three (3) or more years of related office experience, and one (1) or more years of related unclaimed property industry experience; OR any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to carry out the duties of the position.
